The Difficulties of Caregiving
Cris Hardaway converses about caring and caregivers with Dr. Mona Wicks (UTHSC Professor in the College of Nursing), Clay Jackson MD (Medical Director at Methodist Hospice), JJ Doughtie (Assistance Executive Director of Alzheimer’s Day Services), and Miriam Clay (Alzheimer’s Association Programs and Education). They examine the difficulty of caregiving and necessary education and support to aptly take care of one who suffers from Alzheimer’s or dementia and large amount of time necessary to be put in to give elders quality care. Health and economic detriments are also issues of caregivers. They look at the issue at a larger global scale. Making sure that one is healthy and planning ahead can ensure the optimal experience for the cared for.
